We (barely) survived another Black Friday, and the winner, at least in the ereader industry, appears to have been the Barnes & Noble Simple Touch Nook.
Which one is that, you might ask? Well, it's the cheap one. That went from $99 to $79 over the weekend. It's got a touch screen, but other than that, it's pretty bare bones. So what do we make of this?
Well, we either chalk it up to a big sale and people buying up the cheapest eReaders they can find, or, if we look a little deeper, maybe we could substantiate the claim that people want simplicity over all else with their ereaders.
It's too early to tell on the basis of one weekend. The simplest explanation is usually correct, so let's just say people went after this on price. But as long as people keep snatching these up on price, there might not be a big demand for the fancier ones anyway.
